Galen’s first marathon was in 2004. While on a training run in 2006 with the Tampa Blue Sharks Running Club he asked some other runners what the medal looked like for a particular race. No one knew. He asked if there was a web site where all the marathon medals in the world were catalogued. Again, no one knew, but they asked him to tell them if he found one. MarathonMedals.com was the subject of his MBA marketing term paper in 2007 and was well received by his classmates and professor. MarathonMedals.com is the result of Galen’s passion for collecting and sharing images of marathon medals from around the world with the community of marathoners and those who desire to join the ranks of marathon finishers.

Galen lives in St. Petersburg, FL, is an active member of the Marathon Maniacs (#1381), the 50 States Marathon Club, and Toastmasters. As often as he can, he travels to Utah to run the Wasatch mountains of Salt Lake City. He has supported a child for several years in Haiti through Compassion International and encourages others to do the same. You can view his public Linked In page here.
